Hello all

OK, I am what you would call nuke waste although it took 14yrs. I went the normal route from Great Lakes through Orlando A/Power school and Charleston prototype. Did 2 and a half years on the USS Atlanta SSN 712 Decom crew Aug 1997-1999 where I earned my coveted Dolphins. After that went to the Boomer navy on the Nebraska Gold Mdiv from 1999 to 2002. Sea tour up after 3 years or so then shore at TTF Bangor and on to the crew of the USS Louisiana Gold from 2005 until. . . . . . . Once I made Chief on board her then things got weird.. I was seeing a specialist for a GI tract disorder and eventually got poop canned from Nuke field duty as well as Submarines. I am now serving as a conventional MMC(SS) on board USS Abraham Lincoln CVN-72 :( as the AQAO. FML

How was the underway time on a Boomer? Is there much to do? How did you deal with being under water for 3 months at a time?

Any insights into life on an SSN vs. SSBN? Which did you prefer?

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate turn of events... Any hope of getting reinstated to nuke/submarines?

Nice to see some more silver dolphins here. I earned my fish on USS Helena (SSN-725).
Most of us on this site are looking to become nuke officers of one type or another.

Welcome aboard!
